A Avigilon Case Study
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P‑CCS), a large Michigan district serving over 16,000 students across nearly 30 buildings, faced rising safety concerns after a nearby school shooting and ongoing issues like gaps in video coverage, poor image clarity and vaping in private areas. The district needed a system able to trigger instant lockdowns, provide remote situational awareness during high‑pressure incidents, and deliver clear evidence for investigations and day‑to‑day behavioral issues.
P‑CCS deployed the Avigilon Unity suite—Unity Video, Unity Access, Unity Cloud Services—alongside ~1,500 Avigilon H5/H4 cameras, HALO Smart Sensors in privacy areas and integrated Motorola radios, using AI features like Appearance Search and Unusual Activity Detection. The upgrade enabled fast, remote lockdowns and real‑time monitoring, helped resolve a potential firearm threat in hours (quoted as 2–3x faster than before), closed blind spots, sped investigations, and simplified access control across 258 doors, improving both emergency response and everyday security operations.
