Olav Thon Group is one of Norway’s largest private real estate and hospitality companies, with a 5,000-strong workforce and a portfolio of over 500 properties including shopping centers, hotels and parking facilities. Rapid growth exposed limitations in their siloed, fixed video and security systems: they needed a unified, scalable platform to enforce GDPR-compliant data management, reduce costly false alarms, better detect intruders in parking lots, and deliver analytics to improve shopping-center operations and customer flow.

The Group deployed Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon Alta (formerly Ava) — AI-powered Avigilon Ava cameras plus Alta Aware VMS and Alta Cloud Connectors — to unify existing third‑party cameras and new devices under one cloud-native platform. With 1,500 third‑party cameras integrated to date and plans for another 3,500 across 100+ sites, the solution improved real-time intrusion detection and alarm verification, cut false-alarm responses and costs, streamlined operations, and delivered footfall and heatmap insights to boost revenue and inform energy-optimization and other operational improvements.
