A Avigilon Case Study
Mount Vernon Police Department, serving a 15,000‑resident Midwestern city with just over 40 sworn personnel, faced pockets of violent crime and had only a few outdated, unintegrated analog cameras. With limited staff and a need to avoid adding monitoring burdens, the department sought a video solution that would automatically detect threats and deliver actionable intelligence so officers could focus on patrol and response.
MVPD partnered with Motorola Solutions and PASS Security to deploy 73 Avigilon cameras (H5A, H4A, PTZ, fisheye), Avigilon Control Center software, embedded analytics and license plate recognition over a point‑to‑point network. The system provides real‑time alerts, appearance search and LPR matches that cut investigative hours, improve officer situational awareness and evidence quality, and has delivered faster responses and positive community feedback.
