A Avigilon Case Study
M.M. Roberts Stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi, a 40,000‑seat venue, faced crowd outbursts, fan disturbances and other serious security threats while operating with limited security staff and budget. The stadium needed a surveillance solution to improve patron safety, reduce operational costs and provide reliable incident validation across game-day and non‑event activities.
Southern Miss deployed the Avigilon high‑definition surveillance system (Avigilon Control Center with HDSM), installing 16 MP cameras along the sidelines, 5 MP domes at end‑zone entrances, network video recorders with 90 days of storage and Avigilon encoders to enhance legacy feeds. The system delivered a 100% performance improvement on the legacy system, cut game‑day staffing from about 65–70 to 45 (~35% reduction), required half as many cameras (lowering installation costs), improved facial/license‑plate identification and enabled faster incident resolution.
