Fairfield High Preparatory School, part of the Fairfield City School System in Alabama, needed to replace an outdated VCR-based analog surveillance setup and provide a safe, secure learning environment for about 2,700 students. The challenge was to improve image quality and monitoring capability while keeping costs down and preserving existing camera investments.

The school deployed an Avigilon high-definition system—30 1 MP indoor and four 3 MP outdoor HD cameras plus five analog video encoders to integrate 18 legacy cameras—running Avigilon Control Center on its own servers to cover the eight-acre campus with 24/7 remote access. The upgrade delivered clear, easy-to-use monitoring and event-triggered recording, improved campus safety and student behavior, preserved prior equipment, and reduced costs by about 45% versus other higher-end solutions.
