A Avigilon Case Study
The City of Venice, a UNESCO-rich municipality that welcomes over 50,000 tourists daily, needed to replace an aging analogue surveillance system of about 60 low-resolution cameras. The city required an open, scalable HD solution to protect residents and visitors, secure historic landmarks (like the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco), deter vandalism, and comply with multiple regulations while addressing frequent recording failures and poor image quality.
Venis partnered with Avigilon to deploy ACC Enterprise with HDSM, Avigilon 16 MP and 8 MP HD Pro cameras, analogue encoders, and NVRs across a fiber‑optic MPLS network, with centralized recording at the city data center and multiple control rooms (12 full HD monitors). The upgrade delivered high-resolution imagery and faster searches, enabled integration of existing analogue cameras, provided indisputable evidence for investigations, reduced staffing costs, and strengthened coordination with state police while allowing easy future scaling.
