Weather Channel Chooses State-of-the-Art Avid Video Wall Displays

The Weather Channel, based in Atlanta, was redesigning its studio and needed a way to manage a highly complex new video-wall setup. The project called for 105 monitors in 18 different groupings, with overlapping aspect ratios, unusual sizes, and varied resolutions, all while integrating sources like the vision mixer, house router, video servers, and graphics systems. Avid Technology, through its Orad technology, was brought in with TD Control, now known as Maestro | PowerWall.

Avid Technology implemented TD Control to centrally manage multiple live video walls through a single interface and a single operator. The system handled real-time 3D graphics, video sources, and routing automation while simplifying control of the entire production environment. The solution was so successful it expanded beyond the AMHQ morning show to other productions, improving workflow and enabling The Weather Channel to deliver its redesigned studio vision efficiently.
