The Edge Powers On-Air Performances with the Avid VENUE S3L

Corus Entertainment’s 102.1 The Edge, a Toronto modern rock station, needed to replace an inflexible analog setup with a more portable, high-quality live sound solution that could handle performances throughout the Corus Quay facility and integrate with its on-air broadcast system. The station chose Avid Technology’s Avid VENUE | S3L live system for its sound quality, flexibility, portability, and compatibility with Corus’ existing infrastructure.

Avid Technology implemented the VENUE | S3L system with Stage 16 stage boxes and direct AES integration into Corus’ Wheatstone broadcast system. The upgrade improved audio quality dramatically, gave the team the ability to move the system around the building for different events, and enabled seamless capture and remixing in Pro Tools. Corus also benefited from faster workflows, with show files arriving in advance and on-air shows ready before artists arrived.
