Monkey King 2 Uses Avid Editing Software for International Post Production and VFX Collaboration

The Monkey King 2, a major 3D fantasy action film from The Monkey King franchise, faced a complex post-production challenge: more than 1,500 VFX shots, stereoscopic editing, and audio work spread across teams in China, Korea, the U.S., Mexico, and Australia. The production needed Avid Technology’s Media Composer and Pro Tools to coordinate massive files, keep 3D and VFX workflows organized, and enable efficient collaboration across regions.

Avid Technology’s Media Composer streamlined on-set and in-house editing, media management, and stereoscopic workflows, while Pro Tools supported collaborative sound design, premixing, and Dolby Atmos mixing across multiple studios. The result was a smooth end-to-end post-production process for The Monkey King 2, helping the team manage nearly 6 TB of media, maintain a clean asset library, and complete a visually and sonically ambitious film with faster feedback and fewer coordination issues.
