Mixing Interpol, Young the Giant, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs on S6L

Harley Zinker, a front-of-house engineer who has mixed artists like Interpol, Young the Giant, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs for more than 20 years, was looking for a live console that could replace his familiar Profile workflow while delivering better sound and flexibility. After years on Avid VENUE systems, he moved to the Avid S6L to handle tours where he needed the right mix of sound quality, processing power, and easy setup for different shows.

Avid Technology’s S6L gave Harley higher-resolution 96 kHz audio, improved group panning and separation, stronger preamps and dynamics, and a much faster workflow for snapshots, effects, and custom layouts. He says the system made his job “a lot easier and a lot quicker,” simplified Virtual Soundcheck and Pro Tools integration, and became his touring standard, with the S6L now specified on the audio rider for his shows.
