Media Composer Powers the Jam-Packed Adventure

Paddington, the beloved film character brought to the big screen in *Paddington 2*, faced the challenge of being edited into a complex live-action/CGI sequel with a lead character that was invisible for much of production. Editor Mark Everson and the creative team worked under intense pressure to shape the comedy and timing while coordinating with VFX, making the process especially demanding. Avid Technology’s Media Composer, powered by MediaCentral, was the core editing tool used throughout the project.

Avid Technology enabled the team to manage a massive, constantly changing timeline with more than 20 layers of audio and video, high-resolution playback, and fast, flexible workflows for scene-by-scene revisions. With Media Composer, the editors could collaborate closely with Framestore and the animation team, refine comic timing, and keep pace with over 523 VFX shots. The result was a critically acclaimed film that earned three BAFTA nominations and five London Film Critics’ Circle Award nominations.
