KUT’s Legendary Studio Rises from the Basement with Avid

KUT needed to upgrade its legendary basement studio into a flexible live broadcast and production space that could handle everything from solo acoustic acts to loud rock bands. After years of using analog boards, the station wanted a digital system that could support recording and archiving performances while fitting the demands of on-air broadcasting. Avid Technology, through its VENUE live sound consoles and Pro Tools compatibility, was selected to meet those needs.

Avid Technology implemented an Avid VENUE | D-Show System in Studio 1A and an Avid VENUE | SC48 in Studio 1C, giving KUT a reliable, road-tested setup with seamless Pro Tools integration. The result was greater sound quality, headroom, and flexibility for live mixing, broadcasting, and monitor control, while also future-proofing the room with compatible show files across consoles. KUT also used the Avid system successfully at SXSW for four straight days of live broadcasts, reinforcing the value and consistency of the platform.
