A Avid Technology Case Study
Globo, the Brazilian broadcaster, wanted to push live sports coverage to new heights for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, but needed a reliable way to deliver immersive augmented reality graphics in a fast-moving, error-free live production environment. Working with Avid Technology and Gearhouse Broadcast, Globo sought to create a state-of-the-art studio in Moscow that could blend real footage with virtual elements and keep pace with unpredictable live action.
Avid Technology implemented its Maestro | AR suite and Maestro | Designer to power Globo’s first-ever augmented reality studio, enabling real-time control of 3D virtual objects, graphics, and live image manipulation. The result was more engaging and visually creative World Cup coverage, with four live network news shows per day plus two weekly live programs supported by robust, flexible graphics handling and seamless on-air performance.
