Canada’s Global News Revolutionizes its Storytelling with Avid Graphics and Virtual Sets

Global News, the award-winning news and current affairs division of Global Television Network, wanted to refresh the look of its news coverage while improving production agility and workflow efficiency across 15 stations. To support its fast-moving, geographically distributed operation, the broadcaster turned to Avid Technology and its graphics and virtual set solutions, including the MediaCentral Platform, Maestro graphics suite, 4Designer, and ProSet virtual studio.

Avid Technology implemented an end-to-end real-time workflow for Global News across its studio production centers and remote locations, enabling virtualized production with hardware centralized in one city and presenters in another. The results included faster turnaround times, with sets or set elements created in hours or a day, broader storytelling flexibility, and a highly efficient distributed workflow that now supports hundreds of hours of news each week across nearly all stations, helping Global News deliver more immersive and visually compelling coverage.
