Channel 4, the British public-service broadcaster, was struggling with an inflexible channel branding system that required many operators to manually create hundreds of pages and graphics each day, often causing last-minute changes to be missed. It needed a solution that could fit its existing workflow, integrate with automation, and support branding across multiple channels. Channel 4 chose Avid Technology’s 3DPlay, now part of Maestro | TX, for its channel branding and graphics needs.
Avid Technology implemented 3DPlay with 3Designer to streamline template-based graphics creation, improve validation, and support remote playout and approval workflows. The system enabled faster real-time graphics production, reusable templates, and more reliable 24/7 operations across Channel 4’s channels. The impact was broad deployment across Channel 4, More 4, Film 4, E4, and 4Seven, plus a Gold Lion award at Cannes in 2012 for rebranding the Channel 4 network.
