Avid Goes on an Epic Journey with Star Wars The Force Awakens

Star Wars faced the challenge of editing and finishing *The Force Awakens* across multiple camera formats, massive VFX workloads, and tightly coordinated picture and sound workflows. At Bad Robot, the team relied on Avid Technology products including Media Composer, Pro Tools, Avid Storage Suite, and Avid Everywhere to support a fast, collaborative post-production process.

Avid Technology helped the Star Wars editorial team manage 35mm, 65mm, digital, and 3D media, share assets efficiently, and create a smooth temp-to-final sound workflow with 5.1 mixing. The result was a more refined internal screening experience, easier collaboration between editorial and sound, and a workflow that supported the film’s 2,500 shots, including about 2,100 CGI shots, through the final days of editing.
