Avid Everywhere Helps Put Sin City Back on the Map

Sin City, the long-running crime franchise behind *Sin City: A Dame to Kill For*, needed a way to manage a complex, highly collaborative postproduction process across multiple locations, with constant picture changes, shared media, and simultaneous editorial and sound work. The team worked with Avid Technology, using the Avid MediaCentral platform along with Media Composer, Avid ISIS shared storage, and Pro Tools | HDX to keep the workflow streamlined.

Avid Technology’s solution enabled seamless bin sharing, tighter picture-and-sound integration, and faster media management for the editorial and audio teams. The result was a more efficient and flexible postproduction process that let Robert Rodriguez and his team work quickly and collaboratively; on the mix stage, Pro Tools | HDX allowed them to handle roughly 500 sound effects per reel without pre-dubs or pre-mixes, significantly speeding decisions and helping the team work closer to “the speed of thought.”
