UND Revitalizes Medical Facilities Unifies Students

The University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences needed a major facilities overhaul to support its mission of training health care professionals. Students, faculty, and staff were spread across multiple buildings, lab and office spaces were inflexible, and the Simulation Center lacked the room and connectivity needed for modern, interdisciplinary education. AVI Systems was brought in to help the university design and implement the audiovisual technology that would support the new learning environment.

AVI Systems helped equip the new 325,000-square-foot, four-story SMHS building with smart classroom technology, lecture capture, streaming, built-in connectivity, and advanced simulation room AV. The facility now includes six simulation rooms, 14 standardized patient exam rooms, five debriefing rooms, and a 200-seat auditorium, all designed for active learning and collaboration. The result is a flexible, technology-rich environment that brings students from different disciplines together and better prepares them for real-world health care work.
