Midco Sports Network Expands Coverage with Central Production Model

Midco Sports Network partnered with AVI Systems to solve a growing broadcast challenge: its traditional large production trailers were too slow and expensive to deploy, making it difficult to cover all the games Midco wanted to air. The company needed a more flexible way to produce live sports while reducing travel, hotel, and crew costs.

AVI Systems helped Midco implement a centralized production model built around a small mobile van and a revamped headquarters production facility in Sioux Falls. The van carries only essential camera, encoding, power, and audio gear, while most control, replay, shading, editing, and audio work happens remotely at headquarters over fiber/IP. The result is a leaner operation that lets Midco send fewer staff on the road, improve production efficiency, and expand its coverage footprint across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota, including a new college football conference contract.
