Naval Warfare Development Command - Customer Case Study

Naval Warfare Development Command (NWDC), part of the U.S. Navy, needed collaborative, reliable technology for its new 85,000-square-foot headquarters in Norfolk, Va., to support training, concept development, and analysis in its Navy Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation Lab (NCAMS). AVI-SPL was brought in to design and integrate the video communications infrastructure needed for advanced military training and briefing operations.

AVI-SPL implemented a networked video solution centered on Barco and Crestron technologies, with 52-inch LCD panels, a Barco 1080 HD AV System, a 24-seat briefing theater, and a scalable control room management suite. The system lets NWDC reconfigure audio and video for multiple events, conduct high-definition video conferences, and display up to eight JPEG 2000 video images at once, improving efficiency, decision-making, and space utilization while helping the Navy save millions by extending the life of its AV hardware.
