3D Visualization Promotes University Research

Rice University needed its first 3D visualization lab to support ambitious data analysis and multidisciplinary research across science and engineering. AVI-SPL was selected to help deliver the Data Analysis and Visualization Cyber-Infrastructure (DAVinCI) project, using a Barco 3D stereoscopic video wall and integration services to create an interactive, immersive environment for researchers, faculty, and students.

AVI-SPL implemented a 200-inch, 33-million-pixel visualization wall with optical tracking and 3D glasses support for up to 25 users, allowing teams to project, manipulate, and analyze complex data in real time. The solution has helped Rice University improve collaboration, accelerate discovery, and give students valuable hands-on experience with advanced data visualization tools, with users reporting strong excitement and impressive capabilities.
