Case Study: Yamal LNG achieves six months' preparatory savings and faster start-up with AVEVA

Yamal LNG is the most northern liquefied natural gas project in the world, and used AVEVA to enhance collaborations in this joint venture

Yamal LNG, the world’s northernmost LNG project in the Russian Arctic, faced time‑critical engineering and document-control challenges: thousands of hard-copy documents requiring manual checks every 3–4 months, many geographically dispersed partners, and the risk that delays would push work into the arctic winter. To enforce consistent standards and streamline information transfer, Yamal LNG adopted AVEVA solutions, including AVEVA Everything3D (E3D), AVEVA ISM, AVEVA NET, AVEVA Engage and Diagrams.

AVEVA implemented a data‑centric, standards-driven platform—building an integrated 3D model with E3D, synchronising 2D/3D deliverables via Diagrams, managing information with ISM, distributing data through AVEVA NET and enabling collaborative reviews with AVEVA Engage—so teams could detect clashes early and review the model in real time. The result was reduced on-site rework, faster handover from “ready for startup” to full operation, improved quality across contractors and roughly six months’ worth of savings in preparatory work, demonstrating clear schedule and cost benefits from AVEVA’s platform.
