Weldwood of Canada, a leading North American producer of plywood and lumber, was limited by an outdated mainframe maintenance system that didn’t integrate with purchasing and forced large spare-parts inventories, slowing production. To modernize maintenance planning and improve efficiency, Weldwood selected AVEVA’s Avantis.PRO Enterprise Asset Management solution.

AVEVA implemented Avantis.PRO at the Williams Lake plant and rolled it out to five more sites, tying together maintenance, parts purchasing and work-ordering. The system enabled on‑demand parts ordering, streamlined preventive maintenance scheduling, centralized asset data (thousands of entities and inventory items), and supported production of nearly 230 million sq. ft. of plywood at Williams Lake; it also helped Weldwood achieve ISO 14001 certification—delivering lower operating costs and higher maintenance productivity.
