WaterForce partnered with AVEVA to develop an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) remote monitoring and control system in the cloud

WaterForce, a New Zealand provider of smart irrigation and water‑management services, faced rising regulatory pressure, shrinking water availability and the operational challenge of monitoring and controlling geographically dispersed irrigation assets without heavy IT overhead or large capital outlay. To meet farmers’ needs for simple, mobile access and automated compliance reporting, WaterForce partnered with AVEVA to deploy a cloud industrial IoT solution—SCADAfarm—for remote irrigation monitoring and control.

AVEVA’s implementation gave farmers real‑time visibility and mobile control of pivots, pumps and sensors, plus cloud historian, analytics and alarms for fault detection and benchmarking. The AVEVA‑powered SCADAfarm reduced travel time for inspections, enabled new value‑added services from WaterForce, improved water and energy efficiency and delivered measurable results—farmers reported up to a 50% reduction in energy costs in the first season—while remaining scalable and low‑maintenance through cloud updates.
