A AVEVA Case Study
Ecocity Valdespartera Zaragoza needed to become Spain’s first sustainable “Smart City” by centrally monitoring and controlling a wide range of municipal services—drinking water, sewage and rainwater treatment, landscape watering, electricity and gas, street lighting and pneumatic waste collection. To meet this challenge the city selected AVEVA and deployed its System Platform, InTouch HMI and Historian to provide a common data-capture infrastructure, unified control center and real-time visualization.
AVEVA implemented an integrated solution that now manages 196 control points across nine service networks, using 78 servers to collect 21,483 communication signals from 9,000 digital meters; data is automatically distributed to technical teams and archived as public-interest knowledge. The AVEVA system enabled remote operation and improved real-time visibility, supported energy-efficiency analysis by the University of Zaragoza, and delivered measurable oversight and compliance gains for the city’s sustainability goals.
