Case Study: China Ministry of Railways achieves nationwide high‑speed rail integration and a centralized Passenger Information System with AVEVA

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the China Ministry of Railways Case Study

The Passenger Information System is installed in 220 Railway Stations, 15 high-speed rail lines across China using over 200,000 I/O points on 1,300 platforms

China Ministry of Railways engaged AVEVA to deliver a nationally scalable Passenger Information System that could be implemented quickly, integrate existing multi‑vendor equipment, and provide a user‑friendly operator interface with an efficient upgrade path. Facing an 18‑month deadline for the Beijing–Tianjin Olympic line and the need to standardize stations across a vast network, the Ministry required an open, China‑based solution that would support rapid deployment and future expansion.

AVEVA implemented its System Platform and InTouch HMI–based Passenger Information System to centrally manage public address, CCTV, video displays and ticketing across the network. The AVEVA solution integrated 60 third‑party vendors and is installed in 220 stations across 15 high‑speed lines, using over 200,000 I/O points on 1,300 platforms; the project helped create the world’s largest high‑speed rail network (8,358 km), enabled stations to be configured in as little as one day, and delivered operational efficiencies and an expected ROI within six years.
