Case Study: Airbus Helicopters achieves 40% efficiency gains and halves testing development time with AVEVA System Platform

Airbus Helicopters needed a single, open and extensible supervisory solution to modernize its gearbox test benches, increase testing capacity, reduce development and maintenance costs, and allow in-house modification of test programs without reliance on system integrators. To meet these objectives the company selected AVEVA and its System Platform suite, including InTouch HMI, Historian and Historian Clients, to replace fragmented legacy systems across multiple benches and logistics workflows.

AVEVA implemented System Platform with InTouch HMI and Historian across three servers, two control-room servers and a logistics client, standardizing visualization, data acquisition and archiving for both test benches. The deployment delivered measurable gains: development time was cut in half (from 600–800 hours to 300–400 hours), System Platform drove up to 40% efficiency improvements by eliminating scripting and enabling reusable visuals, and Airbus Helicopters achieved real-time data archiving, scalable test capacity and improved operator usability and traceability.
