Case Study: BSH Hausgeräte achieves automated OEE data collection and reduced cycle times with AVEVA (Wonderware MES)

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the BSH Hausgeräte Case Study

Plant Floor Intelligence, Project Based on Wonderware MES Helps the Biggest Household Appliance Manufacturer in Europe

BSH Hausgeräte, Europe’s largest household appliance manufacturer, needed a unified, scalable and web-based system to collect equipment and operations data across its factories to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and automate downtime, scrap and performance reporting. AVEVA was engaged to deliver an open, centrally hosted solution that would integrate with BSH’s existing IT and ERP systems and support multi-language shop-floor visualization and automatic alerts.

AVEVA implemented the Wonderware suite (MES Performance Software, ArchestrA System Platform, InTouch HMI, Historian and Information Server) to connect 128 machines and plants, store all production data, and provide web reporting and email alarms; the rollout covered 12 sites (about 160 plants) with ~100 Information Server users and an ERP interface handling ~120,000 calls/day. The project eliminated manual OEE data annotations, delivered significant cycle-time and staff-time savings, produced accurate real-time logs and intranet access, enabled identification of improvement actions and purchase decisions, and is now being considered for expansion outside Europe.
