Making Operator Training Accessible and Economical with OLEUM

Total OLEUM, the European training center of Total, faced aging, inflexible simulators that limited trainee throughput, required on-site instructors, carried high capital and IT costs, and could not integrate with corporate learning systems. To modernize and scale training, Total selected AVEVA’s cloud-based Operator Training Simulator (AVEVA OTS), leveraging DYNSIM dynamic simulation and InTouch HMI to deliver a flexible, remotely accessible solution.

AVEVA implemented a cloud OTS integrated with Total’s Learning Management System, enabling self-guided and instructor-led courses that multiple cohorts can use concurrently. As a result, AVEVA’s solution cut training times from months to weeks, increased capacity to about 2,000 trainees per year, eliminated most hardware/IT maintenance costs, reduced travel expenses, and converted large upfront capital expenditures into a subscription-aligned operating cost.
