Magna Automotive needed to increase panel variations by about 17% to support a planned model change while meeting a very tight schedule, avoiding any plant shutdown and improving quality, throughput and space utilization. Magna Automotive engaged AVEVA, deploying Wonderware System Platform and Wonderware InTouch HMI to design a Warehouse Control System and upgrade the plant’s automation and visualization capabilities.

AVEVA implemented a turn‑key WCS based on Wonderware System Platform with InTouch HMIs, Historian, real‑time PLC connectivity and over 3,500 sensor points plus touchscreen operator stations and FIFO/audit tracking. The solution was delivered and fully operational in 10 months with zero production downtime; new operators require minimal training, productivity increased equivalent to an 8% head‑count redeployment, deliveries were on time, and stock control, production planning and automated reporting were significantly improved.
