Long Beach Water Department Increases Efficiency With Aveva Scada Solution

Long Beach Water Department needed to reliably supply clean drinking water to 487,000 residents while safely collecting and delivering wastewater across a large, distributed system. To monitor and control dozens of remote sites, hundreds of RTUs and thousands of data points in real time, the department turned to AVEVA’s SCADA solution, including InTouch HMI, AVEVA Historian, ActiveFactory and Historian Clients.

AVEVA implemented a PC‑based SCADA system that provides real‑time visualization, centralized historian storage, trending/analysis and remote control of pumps and valves, enabling faster response, predictive maintenance and fewer field dispatches. The AVEVA solution helped LBWD operate and maintain nearly 765 miles of sewer lines, deliver more than 40 million gallons of wastewater per day, process over 7 billion gallons of groundwater and achieve an estimated average annual return of $300,000.
