Invensys Helps Dusseldorf Waterworks Reduce Costs, Optimize Control and Improve Reporting

Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, the city’s public works department serving over 600,000 residents and operating three Rhine-fed treatment plants (Flehe, Am Staad and Holthausen), faced unsynchronized PLCs, no centralized data archive and rising operational costs. To unify control and bring reporting in-house, Stadtwerke Düsseldorf selected AVEVA, deploying Wonderware InTouch HMI, Wonderware System Platform and Wonderware Historian to provide an open, hardware‑independent SCADA, central data archiving and flexible reporting.

AVEVA implemented an interconnected, redundant SCADA solution with multi‑monitor InTouch HMIs, a centralized Historian server and Historian Client for Excel reporting, rolled out in phases with system partner WPE to avoid service interruption. The AVEVA solution fully automated operations, reduced operating costs, increased plant productivity and availability, improved maintenance and administration, and moved reporting and compliance documentation in‑house—enabling real‑time and historical analysis and faster generation of hourly/daily production and cost‑allocation reports.
