A AVEVA Case Study
Echelon Corporation needed an open, cost‑effective building automation platform to integrate devices from more than 20 manufacturers, cut software and development costs, and create a compelling demonstration of energy management and demand response capabilities. To meet these goals, Echelon implemented AVEVA technology using Wonderware InTouch HMI as the human‑machine interface for its headquarters building automation system.
AVEVA’s Wonderware InTouch HMI connected Echelon’s LNS servers and unified more than 16,000 I/O points across 1,100 devices into an easy‑to‑use graphical system, enabling real‑time monitoring, scheduling and trending. As a result, Echelon’s headquarters uses about 40% less energy than comparable buildings, saves roughly $30,000 annually through San Jose demand response programs, and has reduced design time and development costs while creating a powerful demonstration model for customers and analysts.
