City of Bremen Cuts Energy Consumption and Consolidates Building Management with AVEVA Solution

The City of Bremen faced the challenge of modernizing and unifying building management across a sprawling municipal portfolio—more than 1,200 facilities managed from six control stations and five regional districts—while also reducing heating energy use. To replace fragmented, proprietary systems the city selected AVEVA, deploying InTouch® HMI for Terminal Services along with ActiveFactory™, Historian and Customer FIRST Support to create an open, vendor‑agnostic BMS.

AVEVA implemented a centralized BMS with InTouch HMI as the common operator interface, Historian for performance data archiving and ActiveFactory for standardized reporting, giving regional supervisors real‑time access and streamlined troubleshooting. The AVEVA solution now covers over 160 facilities (expanded from a 50‑site pilot), cut heating energy consumption by 15–18%, and delivers estimated annual savings of more than €30,000 (US$43,000), while simplifying future extensions and reducing reliance on outside suppliers.
