Bottling Plant Decreases Downtime and Achieves Swift Payback with AVEVA

Pepsi Bottling Ventures of Idaho faced integration challenges at its Nampa plant—mixing new and legacy equipment, relying on manual downtime tracking, and operating with a lean engineering staff. To improve changeover performance, eliminate guesswork, and quantify ROI for future capital projects, PBV partnered with AVEVA and deployed System Platform, MES Performance, InTouch HMI, Historian and Historian Clients.

AVEVA’s solution connected PLCs, automated downtime collection and provided Historian reporting and HMI visualization to identify the filler as the primary bottleneck. Fixes driven by AVEVA data cut changeover times by up to 45 minutes (about 50%), delivered roughly a 10% increase in line efficiency, and produced annualized savings of $78,548 with payback in under one year, while enabling cross‑functional teams to make ROI‑backed capital decisions.
