Bayer Crop Science engaged AVEVA to automate its FROGSS (Fungicide Rotating Greenhouse Spraying System) project to increase treatment capacity, reduce biologists’ contact with treated plants, and deliver an open, modular control environment within the project timeline. AVEVA supplied the control and supervision stack (AVEVA/Wonderware InTouch HMI, Historian and ActiveFactory) to meet the need for a flexible, standards-based solution that could evolve during implementation.

AVEVA’s solution automated spraying, drying, classification, washing, transport and identification processes, provided full traceability and interfaced with Bayer Crop Science’s management system (BCS), and delivered an intuitive HMI for operators. The project met its priorities and deadlines, kept costs under control, enabled rapid user familiarization, improved control and transparency across the installation, and materially increased plant-treatment productivity while reducing staff exposure to treated plants.
