Case Study: Roy Hill achieves real-time pit-to-port optimization with AVEVA

AVEVA worked closely with Roy Hill to develop a greenfield iron ore mining site, connecting the entire value chain with industry leading efficiency from pit to port

Roy Hill is a greenfield iron ore operation in the Pilbara developing a fully integrated 55 Mtpa mine, rail and port system. The customer needed to avoid traditional organizational silos, achieve end-to-end visibility from pit to port, and operate a control center 1,300 km from the mine; Roy Hill engaged AVEVA for modern control-room automation and a digital solution suite (Demand Chain Planning and Scheduling, Inventory Tracking and Quality Management, Delay Accounting and Capacity Simulation).

AVEVA implemented DCPS, ITQM, DA and Capacity Simulation tools and helped establish a centralized Remote Operations Center to monitor and control the entire mine-to-port value chain. The solution enabled real-time execution and cross-functional collaboration, supporting ~2.3 billion tons of ore reserve, mining roughly 1 million tons per day (feeding ~73 million tons per year into crushing), streamlining processes and delivering measurable, industry-leading efficiency.
