A AVEVA Case Study
AMEC, a global supplier of consultancy, engineering and project management services to oil & gas, minerals, clean energy and infrastructure markets, faced a pressing need to move engineering data out of disconnected spreadsheets into a managed database so designers could detect a wide range of data inconsistencies quickly and communicate changes more effectively. To address spreadsheet dependency on brownfield projects and enforce database-controlled workflows, AMEC engaged AVEVA and adopted AVEVA Engineering and AVEVA Electrical.
AVEVA implemented an Integrated Engineering & Design methodology using AVEVA Engineering and AVEVA Electrical to centralize data, automate document production and enforce change control. As a result, drawings, datasheets, cable schedules and bills of materials are generated automatically, engineering data is easier to create and manage, and changes are implemented, controlled and communicated much faster — a success being deployed from Aberdeen and tracked for rapid replication across AMEC’s global offices.
