Barcelona City Council needed a scalable smart‑city solution to optimize and remotely manage critical municipal resources — including elevators, escalators, public fountains, parks and irrigation — and to better control city water consumption. AVEVA was engaged to provide the software backbone, deploying System Platform together with InTouch HMI to integrate existing assets and enable centralized, real‑time operations.

AVEVA implemented a SCADA‑based system (delivered with local integrator Logitek) using System Platform and InTouch HMI, connecting distributed sensors and legacy systems into a single plant model and control room. The solution automated irrigation using soil‑moisture and weather data, optimized water consumption via the existing irrigation network, enabled operators to monitor multiple services from one control room, and delivered a modular, scalable platform for future city processes — demonstrating clear improvements in resource efficiency and operational visibility for the Barcelona City Council.
