Case Study: Namibia Breweries Limited achieves energy savings, CO2 reduction and improved production visibility with AVEVA Historian

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the Namibia Breweries Limited Case Study

AVEVA Historian enables Namibia Brewing to successfully manage energy consumption, reduce CO2 emissions, and improve production of its popular brews

Namibia Breweries Limited needed to unify large volumes of utilities and production data (solar, NH3 cooling, boilers, CO2, water and power meters), ensure time-synchronization with existing OPC/DCS systems, and win stakeholder buy-in for real-time visibility and KPI reporting. To address this, the brewery deployed AVEVA solutions—including AVEVA Historian, Historian Clients, System Platform and InTouch—to collect, store and present consumption and production data.

AVEVA’s implementation provided a central historian and web-based dashboards that enabled real-time KPIs, daily/weekly/monthly consumption reports, faster fault finding and verified decision support. As a result, Namibia Breweries Limited achieved municipal compliance, gained ~4.23 million kWh of green energy (about 8% of its electricity demand), reduced CO2 emissions by roughly 4,230 tons, lowered planned biomass boiler capacity, and realized measurable operational and energy-cost improvements.
