Case Study: Vectren Corporation achieves lower maintenance costs, better asset tracking and higher availability with AVEVA Avantis asset management

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the Vectren Corporation Case Study

AVEVA helps Vectren attain new heights in maintenance, planning, and cost tracking

Vectren Corporation, a $2 billion utility serving nearly two‑thirds of Indiana and 16 counties in Ohio, needed to reduce operations, maintenance and capital spending while keeping its two power plants (about 1,400 MW) highly available. To eliminate inefficiencies in scheduling maintenance, ordering parts and tracking completed work, Vectren turned to AVEVA and deployed Avantis® Asset Management Software and Avantis InRIM™.

AVEVA implemented an integrated Avantis solution (linked to Oracle and workforce time‑tracking) that gave Vectren an enterprise database to capture and analyze maintenance work, track 6,000 unique assets and 33,000 spare parts, and record work orders and labor time. The project produced measurable gains: Avantis KPIs show 12,000 work tasks completed since July (7,300 corrective, 3,500 preventive, and 250 safety orders), improved planned vs. unplanned work, better benchmarking and failure analysis, and lower costs with improved plant availability thanks to AVEVA’s solution.
