AVEVA Helps Bermuda Utility Provide Consistent Power and Deploy Upgrades Self-sufficiently

Bermuda Electric Light Company Ltd. (BELCO) needed to provide reliable power across a remote island chain—serving 65,500 residents and about 465,000 annual tourists—while becoming more self-sufficient, preparing for future generation growth and achieving ISO 14001:2004 certification. To meet these challenges BELCO partnered with AVEVA, deploying AVEVA System Platform/ArchestrA, InTouch HMI, AVEVA Historian and AVEVA IntelaTrac Mobile Operator Rounds (with additional integrations from Triconex and Avantis) to standardize operations and reduce reliance on in‑person vendor support.

AVEVA’s integrated software unified BELCO’s central plant and 34 substations, enabled independent upgrades and simplified operator interfaces, and provided robust data collection and reporting via Historian and IntelaTrac. As a result, BELCO maintained consistent electricity delivery across its network, expanded planning for future capacity, and became the first organization in Bermuda to achieve ISO 14001:2004—demonstrating measurable improvements in operational transparency, reporting for audits, and reduced need for external onsite assistance thanks to AVEVA.
