Case Study: Schlattner achieves 400 MW climate‑neutral North Sea windfarm with AVEVA Bocad Steel

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the Schlattner Case Study

AVEVA facilitates Schlattner’s impressive feats of engineering in the North Sea so they can create climate-neutral energy through offshore wind farms

Schlattner, an Osnabrück-based engineering firm, was contracted to do the detailed engineering and planning of tripod foundations for an offshore wind farm in the North Sea. Facing windy, dangerous sea conditions and the need for foundations able to sustain extreme loads and accommodate complex internal piping, cables and thousands of parts, Schlattner used AVEVA Bocad Steel to develop the inner steelwork and ensure precise, clash-free routing.

Using AVEVA Bocad Steel (with the offshore add-on), Schlattner automated 3D modeling, part lists and detailed shop drawings—managing 3,244 individual design elements per tripod variation and completing planning within a year. The result: 80 turbines delivering 400 MW (supplying about 200,000 households after the first phase) and supporting a EUR 1.6 billion investment, giving Germany a dependable source of climate‑neutral energy thanks to AVEVA’s software.
