Case Study: Oceana Shipyard achieves streamlined production and reduced costs with AVEVA ERM (AVEVA)

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the Oceana Shipyard Case Study

AVEVA ERM was selected by Oceana to reduce costs and waste of materials and man-hours while streamlining their ship-building process

Oceana Shipyard (Oceana Estaleiro S.A.), a new, medium-sized shipbuilder in Itajaí, Brazil with about 1,500 employees and capacity to produce up to six ships a year, needed to cut material waste and man‑hours, release work orders closer to execution, and unite disparate systems for reliable cross‑discipline planning. To address these challenges the yard selected AVEVA and its AVEVA ERM (Enterprise Resource Management) Integrated Suite to streamline production planning and control.

AVEVA implemented AVEVA ERM to integrate engineering, procurement, warehouse and planning (and to connect with Oceana’s SAP), going live in seven weeks; the result was continuous man‑hour monitoring and reduced waste, work orders released nearer execution, more accurate deliveries, and timely project reporting. Oceana reported faster-than‑expected deliveries (the second vessel finished ahead of schedule), now leads the market in production times per an independent study, and avoids costly delays and material overspend—protecting against impacts such as roughly US$765,000 per three‑month delay on a PSV—demonstrating measurable gains from AVEVA’s solution.
