Case Study: Ash Grove Cement achieves $2M first-year inventory reduction and improved asset availability with AVEVA Avantis EAM

A AVEVA Case Study

Preview of the Ash Grove Cement Case Study

Avantis Solution provides solid Enterprise Planning, Scheduling and Compliance Management for Ash Grove Cement

Ash Grove Cement, the fifth-largest U.S. cement manufacturer with nine production plants, needed to standardize and automate maintenance data collection enterprise-wide to improve asset availability and utilization, manage large spare-parts inventories, and meet EPA PC MACT compliance. To meet these challenges they deployed Avantis solutions from AVEVA, including Avantis.EAM, Avantis.PRO and Avantis VIP Advanced Scheduling.

AVEVA implemented an enterprise CMMS and advanced scheduling tied to handheld PDAs and financial systems to centralize work planning, inventory replenishment and regulatory documentation. The Avantis rollout delivered measurable gains: about $2 million in first-year inventory reduction, improved management of as many as 8,000 items per plant (maintaining $2M–$12M inventory levels), documented PC MACT compliance, and reduced the risk of losing $3,000 per hour from kiln downtime through better outage planning and parts availability.
