Avero Identifies Employee Theft Saving Makoto Over $18k in Lost Revenue

STARR Restaurants’ Miami sushi outlet (Makoto) was experiencing unexplained cash shortfalls and unusually high promotion usage in late 2014. Managers suspected employee theft but couldn’t produce conclusive evidence.

In February 2015 the group added Avero Loss Prevention to their existing Avero software; its seven-criteria monitoring immediately identified the stealing employee, the abused promotion and the affected checks. The employee was terminated, procedures were tightened, and the outlet saw increased cash, reduced promotion abuse and an annualized gain of over $18,000.
