Unigarant Migrates Microsoft® SharePoint® Data 94% Faster And Reduces Content Database Storage By 56% With DocAve®

Unigarant, a Dutch property-and-casualty insurer with about 500 SharePoint users, needed to upgrade from legacy SharePoint 2003 and MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010. With no native direct upgrade path from 2003, the company required a fast, non-disruptive migration that preserved document fidelity, metadata and permissions and allowed jobs to run during off-peak hours.

Using AvePoint’s DocAve Migrator and Content Manager, Unigarant migrated approximately 112 GB of selected content in three weeks—about 94% faster than native methods and what would have taken roughly a year manually—while cutting content database storage by 56%. The solution preserved folder structures, properties and access controls, enabled evening/weekend scheduling to minimize disruption, and avoided transferring unnecessary data from the 385 GB legacy estate.
