The RSPB Saves Two Months Migrating To Microsoft® SharePoint® 2010 With DocAve®

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), Europe’s largest wildlife conservation organisation, needed to upgrade a mixed SharePoint 2003 and MOSS 2007 environment to SharePoint 2010 to support wider collaboration across its staff and volunteers. With only three SharePoint administrators, a limited budget, and no native path to migrate directly from SharePoint 2003 to 2010, the organisation required a fast, full‑fidelity migration that preserved metadata, security and version history.

RSPB chose AvePoint’s DocAve Migrator to perform site‑level, incremental migrations; the team moved about 6 GB of content and completed the upgrade in three months—saving roughly two months versus a manual native migration. The solution retained all data fidelity, met the project deadline so end‑user training could begin immediately, and enabled broader adoption of SharePoint 2010 across the organisation.
