The Government Office for Münster Region Ensures Consistency Between Intranet and Extranet by Synchronizing Microsoft® SharePoint® Content with DocAve®

The Government Office for Münster Region (Bezirksregierung Münster) used SharePoint Server for an internal intranet and SharePoint 2013 Foundation for a public extranet. Maintaining content in two separate farms required duplicate updates and PowerShell workarounds, risking inconsistent public information, making backups cumbersome, slowing item-level recovery, and complicating annual site-template copies.

The IT team implemented AvePoint DocAve (Backup & Restore, Content Manager, Replicator) to synchronize content from a single interface, tag internal-only items, replicate bi-directionally, automate daily backups, perform item-level restores in about five minutes, and copy sites with full fidelity. As a result, update time was cut by half, content consistency improved across intranet and extranet, recovery and site provisioning sped up, and manual effort and risk were significantly reduced.
