Sunrise Communications Securely Shares Microsoft® SharePoint® Content with 150 External Users with AvePoint Perimeter®

Sunrise Communications, Switzerland’s largest private telecommunications provider, had built a 1.3 TB SharePoint 2013 environment to centralize collaboration but struggled to securely share documents with partners and contractors. Employees resorted to Dropbox and email attachments because external users couldn’t access the internal network, exposing sensitive data and bypassing IT controls.

Sunrise deployed AvePoint Perimeter to create secure sharing containers that let about 150 external users edit and sync documents back to SharePoint while IT retains visibility and control. The solution reduced Dropbox and attachment use, enforced metadata-based sharing rules, permission expirations and password protection, and enabled secure remote access—keeping files in SharePoint and protecting sensitive information.
